Dodgers Postgame: Joey Gallo Delivers as LA Caps Off a Perfect Homestand
It was a perfect homestand for the Dodgers, as they completed a two-game sweep over the Twins with an 8-5 victory on Wednesday night. The win also extended their streak to a season-long 10-games, their longest since 2017. While starter Ryan Pepiot’s final line was not the prettiest, he did enough to keep his team in the game long enough for the bats to get hot once again.
Max Muncy Continues Hot Streak
We’ve already mentioned how incredible the turnaround has been for Max Muncy, and he is not showing any signs of slowing down. The veteran infielder did it again on Wednesday night with a homer to open the scoring, his 4th homer in seven games this month.

A motivated Max Muncy is bad news for opposing pitchers, but it is a welcome sight for Dodgers fans that have been patiently waiting for the real Max to stand up.
Joey’s Feeling Good
What a difference an environment makes. After pressing all season long on a Yankee team where relentless boos showered him every night, Joey Gallo has looked like a different player since being traded to LA. The bat still has a ways to go before returning to its All-Star form, but the powerful slugger looked like a weight was lifted off his shoulders after sending a baseball into orbit for his first home run as a Dodger.

In his postgame interview, Gallo didn’t shy away from how much the support from the fans means to him.
“It’s been a while since I heard people chanting for me, so I was pretty excited about that.”
Many critics dismissed the acquisition of Gallo as puzzling at best, but it may have been another stroke of genius from Andrew Friedman. With expectations so low for the former All-Star this year, he really has nowhere to go but up. Sometimes all it takes is one swing for a player to figure it all out.

The Dodgers have an off day on Thursday before beginning a seven-game road trip against the Royals and Brewers. Tony Gonsolin takes the mound in game 1 on Friday in Kansas City searching for his 14th win of the season.
