Dodgers Postseason Hero Brent Honeywell Provides Update on Free Agency
The Los Angeles Dodgers non-tendered an October hero in November. The Dodgers chose to part ways with right-hander Brent Honeywell soon after the World Series, and he has yet to sign with a team this offseason.

Honeywell produced a 2.62 ERA with the Dodgers across 34.1 innings pitched in the regular season. He was designated for assignment by the Pittsburgh Pirates in July, and made an immediate impact in L.A last season.
During the postseason, Honeywell made three appearances, pitching 8.2 crucial innings that L.A. needed to win the World Series. The right-hander became an innings-eater in October for the Dodgers, specifically in the second-to-last game of both the NL Championship Series and World Series.
Honeywell’s long outings allowed other relievers to rest for the following game. He received major props from his teammates for his impact in the postseason, including third baseman Max Muncy.
Honeywell threw 4.2 innings in the Dodgers’ NLCS Game 5 loss. L.A. then used seven relievers to win Game 6, all thanks to Honeywell’s sacrifice.
“He said I won us Game 6,” Honeywell said of Muncy’s message to him.
Just a few months after Honeywell’s heroics, he has yet to be signed by a team. The right-hander recently spoke about his free agency process on the Baseball Isn’t Boring podcast.
“I think a lot of people think they deserve a major league deal, but I thought I deserved a major league deal,” Honeywell said. “So I’ll wait. I’ve done it my whole life.
“It’ll all line itself up. It just gives me a little but of time to work on something I haven’t had in a while. Maybe I come back with something new.
“It’s just like, I ain’t into working for free man.”
