The Los Angeles Dodgers lost the first game of their three-game series against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday by a score of 4-3.
Tyler Glasnow started the game for the Dodgers, making his first appearance in MLB since May 6, and stabilized well after finding himself in an early hole. The right-hander allowed three runs in the first inning, but didn’t allow another run through the remainder of his outing.
He struck out seven through five inning, allowing three runs on six hits and no walks.
The Braves led off the bottom of the first inning with a single, and All-Star first baseman Matt Olson singled a couple of batters later to put runners on first and third. Mauricio Dubon and Michael Harris II singled back-to-back in the following two at-bats to drive in two runs, and Ozzie Albies hit a sacrifice fly to bring home the final run of the inning.
Now at a 3-0 deficit, the Dodgers didn’t waste any time in getting back into the game.
In the top of the second, Max Muncy and Kyle Tucker both singled to two on, and Alek Thomas came through with a single to score a run. Thomas has a single and an RBI in each of his three games as a Dodger so far.
Hunter Feduccia followed Thomas to the plate, and also singled to bring home a run—cutting the hosts’ lead to one run.
The Dodgers tied the game up in the top of the fourth inning, bringing home Tommy Edman after the second baseman singled and stole second base.
LA had a couple of opportunities in the following innings, putting two on with one out in the sixth as well as two on with two out in the eighth, but they ultimately failed to bring a run across on both occasions.
The Braves ultimately made the breakthrough in the eighth inning, as Matt Olson hit a leadoff double and came home after a two-out single from Ozzie Albies.
The Dodgers made a solid attempt to come back in the ninth inning after Shohei Ohtani tripled to lead off the inning, but couldn’t convert the reigning MVP’s efforts into a run as they lost the game.
They have the opportunity to level the series in Wednesday’s game, which starts at 4:15 p.m. PT.

A game against a team with a winning record and we lose again. We are now 1-3 against Atlanta and will most likely lose the tiebreaker against them. Just like we lost it against Milwaukee, Chicago, and Arizona.
