Dodgers Re-Sign Journeyman Left-Hander

The Dodgers continued their trip through the local Goodwill with the signing of another veteran pitcher. Ok, maybe a bit harsh… Left-handed pitcher Robbie Erlin, who made 2 appearances for LA last year, is back with the club on a minor league deal.

The move was confirmed when the team announced its non-roster invitee list for spring training. 26 other players were on that list including one-time top LA prospect Yusniel Diaz who was the headliner in the Manny Machado trade back in 2018.

Over parts of 8 major league seasons, Erlins owns a 13-20 record with a 4.87 ERA. He’s made 117 appearances with the Padres, Pirates, Braves, and Dodgers with his best season coming in San Diego back in 2018 (4.21 ERA, 109 IP).

As mentioned earlier, the veteran pitched in 2 games for the Dodgers last season before being designated for assignment on May 11th. He passed through waivers and returned to the organization for the remainder of the season.

Back with LA, Erlin will serve as depth at the triple-A level. While his numbers weren’t pretty with Oklahoma City last year (7.01 ERA) he still ate up some innings for manager Travis Barbary.
