Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani Looks Forward to Rematch Vs Angels

The day has finally come for Shohei Ohtani to face his former team. The Los Angeles Angels visit the Los Angeles Dodgers for two games on Friday and Saturday.

Is Ohtani nervous? Anxious? Excited? Emotional? He will never admit to any of that. However, he did tell reporters on Wednesday that he is “looking forward” to playing his old team and added that he still follows the Angels “here and there” to keep up with what he called the regular news.

He also acknowledged through his interpreter that he might feel more emotions before playing at Angel Stadium. The vibe for this series just feels like any other because he is playing at Dodger Stadium.

“I believe more so when I go to Anaheim (it will be emotional for me),” Ohtani said. “But since we’re playing at Dodger Stadium, I’m just going to be focused on playing the game.”

Ohtani spent six seasons with the Angels. He won two American League MVP awards and established himself as one of the best two-way players to ever wear a Major League Baseball uniform.

He impressed so much that the Dodgers signed him to a massive 10-year, $700 million free-agent contract despite him not pitching this season while he continues to recover from an injured elbow ligament. The Angels did not match the offer.
