Dodgers Sign Kyle Tucker to Blockbuster Deal

The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed All-Star free agent Kyle Tucker.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan broke the news via X.

According to ESPN’s Jesse Rogers, Tucker agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract with the Dodgers — a massive $60 million per year. With the deal, Los Angeles has once again landed another top free agent of the offseason.

Rogers added that Tucker has an opt-out after the second year. For the time being, Tucker has signed the richest contract on an average annual value basis in MLB history, surpassing Mets superstar Juan Soto, Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani and Max Scherzer.

Tucker was among the top free agents this winter, and the race was tight for the 28-year-old. The New York Mets and the Toronto Blue Jays were among the teams that were aggressively pursuing the four-time All-Star.

However, it is the Dodgers once again who pull off another big signing in their quest for a three-peat. The Dodgers will look to become the first team since the 2000 New York Yankees to three-peat in the sport, and the outfielder will play a pivotal role in that.

The Dodgers are chasing a 10th championship and looking to extend their modern dynasty. Tucker helps check another box, strengthening an outfield group that was flat-out bad a year ago. Sure, L.A. didn’t need Tucker, but an elite left-handed hitter who also upgrades you defensively?

That’s the kind of luxury the Dodgers can afford—literally and figuratively.

The Dodgers’ outfield was among the worst last season, as they had a handful of liabilities, including Michael Conforto and Teoscar Hernandez.

The overall unit was terrible, ranking among the worst in MLB for WAR and offensive production, creating a significant problem that the team sought to fix in the offseason. Hernandez and Andy Pages will still be around and will play pivotal roles for the team, but Tucker will undoubtedly change the overall outlook for 2026 and moving forward.

Kyle Tucker Stats

Tucker enters his first season with the Dodgers as accomplished as any free agent this winter. He has a career 27.3 WAR, 748 hits, 147 home runs, 290 RBIs and a career .273 batting average as well as a .865 career OPS.

The 28-year-old has made the All-Star teams in four consecutive seasons and has a very great chance to go for his fifth selection, this time as a member of the Dodgers.
