The Los Angeles Dodgers lost 4-2 to the San Diego Padres in a disappointing, all-around loss.
The Dodgers lost the home series and watched the Padres celebrate clinching their postseason berth. Luckily, LA clinched their Wild Card bye before the game, when the Atlanta Braves lost.
Tyler Glasnow’s amazing night
Glasnow threw a no-hitter through five innings, but in the sixth he lost the bid and gave up the first run.
With two baserunners and an out in the seventh inning, Glasnow was finally pulled. He finished with three hits allowed, two walks, but an amazing 11 strikeouts.
Both of Glasnow’s runners scored after Wrobleski allowed three hits to open the game 4-0.
Evan Phillips came in and delivered a great outing, with two strikeouts and no base runners charged.
Additionally, Edwin Diaz pitched the ninth inning, striking out two and allowing no hits.
The offense falls short
Similar to Wednesday, the Dodgers failed to deliver in scoring opportunities.
LA went 1-for-10 with nine runners left on base. The Dodgers’ first run came on a balk, while the second came from a hard-hit Shohei Ohtani double that scored Tommy Edman in the bottom of the ninth.
Overall, the Dodgers produced only nine baserunners, seven hits, and two walks, with 12 strikeouts. They played aggressively, but it didn’t pay off tonight.
Standout performances came from Mookie Betts, who went 3-for-4 with a walk; Ohtani, who went 2-for-5 with an RBI double; and Freddie Freeman, who went 2-for-4.
Other than one Andy Pages talk, no one else got on base. On a rare night when all three stars showed up, the complementary pieces did too.
