Los Angeles Dodgers utility player Tommy Edman is set to return to the big leagues next week.
Jack Harris of the California Post reports that Edman “is on track to be activated next Tuesday.”

That day was the deadline for his activation from the injured list, reported Katie Woo and Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.
“He is scheduled to complete his rehab assignment with OKC this weekend,” Harris added.
Where has Tommy Edman been?
Edman, 31, has missed the entirety of the 2026 season up to this point while recovering from offseason ankle surgery.

Edman was twice sidelined by his injured right ankle last season, and he ended the year playing only second base as he nursed the injury.
Now that his ankle is healthy, though, Edman will be able to play second base and fill in for Andy Pages in center field as needed, Woo reported.
Dodgers have a need at second base
This season, Edman’s primary position of second base — and the infield in general — has seen a great deal of turnover.
Not only has Edman missed significant time since the start of the year, but so too has Kike Hernandez.
In addition, shortstop Mookie Betts strained his oblique in the season’s eighth game, taking him out of action for weeks.

Miguel Rojas, Hyeseong Kim, Alex Freeland and Santiago Espinal have filled in at different points, though Kim and Freeland have also spent time in the minors.
Espinal also was designated for assignment and later brought back.
Hernandez also returned from injury all to briefly before an oblique injury sent him back to the IL.
With Edman returning, the Dodgers have another solid infielder, though they’ll likely have to DFA or send down a player, likely an infielder but maybe an outfielder, to make room.
Who do you think will be moved for Tommy Edman’s return?
