Los Angeles Dodgers key reliever Edgardo Henriquez got the official diagnosis for his lower-body injury that has him on the injured list.
Henriquez has a “low-grade” back strain, and the team is “hopeful” he’ll be back for the postseason, manager Dave Roberts said.
Roberts described the MRI results as “positive,” which should be a relief for fans hoping to get their best bullpen arm back in time for the playoffs.
The Dodgers placed him on the 15-day injured list, meaning that he is not eligible to return until September 29th, effectively ending his regular season.
All eyes will be on Henriquez as we look toward October, when he is expected to be a high-leverage arm, possibly even the closer if he is able to get back to pitching again soon.

Henriquez has a 2.62 ERA, with a 2.50 FIP. He misses the barrel of the bat, strikes out hitters, and limits home runs like one of the best relievers.

It is unclear how quickly the Dodgers will pull the trigger on Henriquez in the playoffs for a high-leverage role, but given what he has proven this year, they will try to lean on him as much as his health permits.
