The Los Angeles Dodgers kept Tommy Edman out their lineup for their series opener against the Colorado Rockies on Monday.
The Dodgers scratched Edman before game time on Sunday, as the utility man felt soreness in his right ankle after being hit by a pitch the night prior. Edman underwent surgery on his ankle during the offseason and missed the first couple of months of the season, so the Dodgers are likely remaining careful with the situation.
LA enters this series on the back of a three-win series against the San Diego Padres, during which they extended their lead atop the NL West to 14 games.
Who is starting for the Dodgers?
Eric Lauer is the Dodgers’ starter for the first game of the series, and has been on quite the run since joining the Dodgers. He has a 2.88 ERA through six appearances for the Dodgers, spanning 34.1 innings pitched.
His last outing came against the Athletics last week, where he only allowed three runs through six innings pitched. Lauer pitched against Colorado in his first start as a Dodgers, and only allowed one run through six innings.
Who is in the Dodgers’ lineup?
Shohei Ohtani seems to be fine after missing Saturday’s game with a bicep injury, as he is starting as the Dodgers’ leadoff man for the second game in a row. Center fielder Andy Pages remains right behind him in the lineup, followed by first baseman Freddie Freeman and shortstop Mookie Betts.
Right fielder Kyle Tucker is hitting fifth for the Dodgers, while left fielder Teoscar Hernandez is batting sixth. Third baseman Max Muncy is back in the lineup as well, batting seventh, and second baseman Miguel Rojas and catcher Dalton Rushing round out the order.

Who is starting for the Rockies?
Left-hander Kyle Freeland—a familiar opponent—will start for the Rockies. He has already pitched against the Dodgers this season, facing them on May 26. In that game, Freeland allowed eight runs on nine hits through just four innings of work.
The Dodgers will look to find some similar results against Freeland this time around as he and Lauer face off at 7:10 p.m. PT.
The game will be broadcast on SportNet LA.

Can’t wait for Kike to come back so they can demote Freeland. He has been abysmal at the plate.
