Former Dodger Cody Bellinger May Miss Cubs Series in LA

Cody Bellinger may miss part of or all of the Cubs’ series against the Dodgers in Los Angeles as the birth of his second child looms. Bellinger’s girlfriend Chase is reportedly “due any day.”

The report comes out of Chicago.

On the flip side, this weekend will be a homecoming for Cody Bellinger if he plays (his girlfriend is due any day with the couple’s second child). He was drafted by the Dodgers in 2013 and spent his entire career in the organization before they non-tendered him in the offseason and he signed on with the Cubs.

Cody recently spoke about the homecoming at Dodger Stadium, having this to say.

After Wednesday’s game at Wrigley, Bellinger said he didn’t know what to expect when he stands at the plate in Los Angeles for the first time as a Cub.

“I’m sure in the moment it will all hit me,” he said. “But I’ve got to go home, go to Arizona, maybe have a baby, so that’s what I’m focused on right now. I’m excited to see the guys. A lot of good memories over there. I really don’t know what to expect but I imagine I’ll be excited.”

Hopefully he can make it to Dodger Stadium where he should get a warm welcome from 50,000-plus Dodgers fans waiting to thank him for his contributions to the team.
