Former Dodgers Pitcher Ryan Pepiot Made MLB History in Coors Field Performance

Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, and current Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Ryan Pepiot made MLB history Sunday. Pepiot became the first opponent to record a scoreless pitching outing with at least ten strikeouts and zero walks allowed at Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies.

In the Rays’ 3-2 win over the Rockers, Pepiot pitched six innings. He allowed three hits, but zero runs and struck out 11 hitters for the Rays.

This performance taking place at Coors Field is even more impressive since the field is advantageous for hitters due to the altitude. At a field where pitchers tend to struggle, Pepiot thrived. Only two other pitchers have achieved this feat (Germán Márquez and Jon Gray), and both played both for the Rockies.

Pepiot, who was the Dodgers’ third round pick in 2019, pitched for the Dodgers for two seasons from 2022-2023. Pepiot appeared in a combined 17 games for the Dodgers over two seasons, posting a 2.14 ERA in 2023 and a 3.47 ERA in 2022.

Pepiot left the Dodgers as part of the team’s trade for now No. 1 pitcher Tyler Glasnow. The Dodgers traded Pepiot and Jonny DeLuca to the Rays, getting back Glasnow and Manuel Margot, the latter who has since been traded to the Minnesota Twins.

While Pepiot appears to be off to a good start with his new team, so has Glasnow with the Dodgers. Glasnow is 2-0 in three starts for the Dodgers, with a 3.14 ERA so far.
