Former Dodgers RHP Yohan Ramirez Already DFA’d by New Team
Former Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Yohan Ramirez didn’t last long in his new home.
Ramirez, who was claimed off waivers by the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, has been designated for assignment on Wednesday after just one appearance with Boston.
The 29-year-old threw 1.1 innings for the Red Sox on Tuesday, allowing two earned runs. Then, a day later, he was officially designated for assignment.
This is Ramirez’s fifth time being DFA’d this season. He began the 2024 season with the New York Mets before being DFA’d and traded to the Baltimore Orioles. Then, he was DFA’d by Baltimore and went back to New York. The Dodgers acquired Ramirez from the Mets after they DFA’d him, and then, after being DFA’d by Los Angeles, he wound up in Boston for a brief stay.
Ramirez has made 38 appearances this season across four teams, with 27 of them coming with the Dodgers. Ramirez pitched 29.1 innings with L.A., allowing 18 earned runs for a 5.52 ERA. On the year, he has a 6.20 ERA.
Ramirez will now head to waivers, where he’ll hope to find his next home. If he goes unclaimed on waivers, he’ll either remain in Boston’s organization in the minor leagues or head back to free agency.

If I was him, I’d take the minor league assignment. No one will want him with his current inconsistency. He throws, he doesn’t pitch, that is what got him in trouble with the Dodgers. Catchers would set up middle-middle and he would throw it outside and low. He rarely could hit the target and if opponents weren’t swinging then he was an accident waiting to happen. With the depleted Dodger bullpen, they often didn’t have any choice.
