Former Dodgers Utility Man Charlie Culberson DFA’d by Atlanta Braves
There’s an old friend alert on the transaction log today, but it’s a melancholy one for a former Dodger.
Former Los Angeles utility man Charlie Culberson was designated for assignment by the Atlanta Braves on Sunday, according to a tweet from the team.
The #Braves today recalled C Chadwick Tromp to Atlanta and designated INF Charlie Culberson for assignment.

Additionally, LHP Kolby Allard today begins a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett.
Culberson, 34, slashed .204/.234/.255 with one home run and 10 RBI over 24 games with Triple-A Gwinnett.
The organization has 10 days to trade or release Culberson, who was not on Atlanta’s 40-man roster.
Dodger fans will remember Culberson for one rather significant home run in September.
Culberson hit a walk-off home run over the short wall in left field to give legendary broadcaster Vin Scully the most memorable of sendoffs in his final broadcast at Dodger Stadium on September 25, 2016 — and giving Culberson a permanent place in Dodger lore.
The Dodgers won the NL West on that incredible day, and advanced to the NLCS that season before falling in six games to the Chicago Cubs.
Over his time in Dodger blue, Culberson slashed .275/.301/.363 with eight RBI and that one memorable homer that will last the test of time.
Hopefully Culberson will land on his feet very soon with another organization, and as far as Dodger fans think of him, it’ll always be “thanks for the memories!”

Could we possibly get him to back up Max and CT3 at the hot corner? With all the victims to the injury bug in Dodger Blue, he might be a nice player to have handy.
