Juan Soto Missing From Yankees Lineup For Second Straight Game Against Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees are gearing up for Saturday’s second matchup of this epic three-game series. While this series doesn’t lack star power, one of the brightest will be out for the second consecutive game against the Dodgers, Yankees slugger Juan Soto.

Soto is not in the lineup today due to left forearm inflammation. The Yankees announced the injury on Friday, and he is still listed as day-to-day. The three-time All-Star left Thursday’s game against the Minnesota Twins with forearm discomfort, and a test Friday revealed it was inflammation.

Luckily for the Bronx Bombers and their fans, there is no structural damage in his below, and he did not require injection.

Friday was the first game he has not started this season, and Saturday will be the second. The hope for Soto is that he will play on Sunday. Yankees manager Aaron Boone did not rule him out for this epic weekend series. If he happens to be in the lineup tomorrow, he will be used as a pinch-hitter.

The 24-year-old said he’s been dealing with this forearm issue for about a week, and it did not all happen on Thursday before being removed from the game following a 56-minute rain delay. The inflammation has had zero effect on the slugger as he’s batting .379 with two triples, three home runs, and 10 walks compared to only nine walks in the last nine games. The AL MVP candidate won’t be in the lineup on Saturday, and hopefully, he will play in the series finale on Sunday.

The Dodgers will look to win the series on Saturday after a thriller win in extra innings on Friday, 2-1. L.A. will have their young right-handed pitcher, Gavin Stone, on the bump today. Stone will face southpaw Nestor Cortes.
