Kiké Hernández said what many fans have been thinking for the last six games: The Dodgers need to clean up their performance.

The defending champions started off the season right where they left off, but a trip to the east coast has dampened their previously unscathed record. The Dodgers are currently 10-4 and are third in the National League West, behind the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants.
The Dodgers lost three consecutive games and four total on the road, mostly because of poor defense. As for what L.A. needs to do to fix things? Hernández answered.
“Not much other than we have a lot of things to clean up,” he said. “We didn’t necessarily run the bases great. We played some sloppy defense throughout the road trip. We had some moments offensively but then we also had a lot of empty at-bats. But I’m not going to sit here and make a big deal out of it. We just had a tough week and today was a nice way to end a tough road trip.”
The Dodgers looked unbeatable in their first eight games, but things quickly took a turn for the worst after the team went on the road.
“When you’re expected to win 162 games in a season and you lose four in a week, it could feel like the world’s ending,” Hernandez said. “But at the end of the day, we have 148 more. At some point, we were going to play (bad) baseball and it just seemed like this was the week to do that.”
The Dodgers return to Chavez Ravine a bit battered, but perhaps the 2-4 east coast trip may propel the team to punch back beginning with Freddie Freeman’s bobblehead night Friday.
