Kyle Tucker Sits For Series Finale Amid Big Dodgers Shuffle: Lineup

The Los Angeles Dodgers aim to salvage their series against the Atlanta Braves in the final game of their three-game series on Thursday.

The Dodgers lost both of the first two games by just one run, losing Wednesday’s game via walk off after loading the bases twice in the late innings. The offense hasn’t come through in big situations late in the game during this series, and they’ll hope to get back on track in Thursday’s game.

They moved several players around in their lineup, and will hope their changes pay off.

Who is Pitching for the Dodgers?

The Dodgers have a great shot to take the last game, as Yoshinobu Yamamoto is their starter on the road. He has a 2.61 ERA on the year, pitching a team-high 151.2 innings over the course of 23 starts. He also has 145 strikeouts on the season.

The right-hander is enjoying a rich vein of form, having dominated throughout August. Through his four starts this month, he has a 2.08 ERA through 26 innings pitched with 27 strikeouts.

Who is in the Dodgers’ Lineup?

Shohei Ohtani remains at the top of the lineup as the Dodgers’ designated hitter, but plenty of changes follow him in the order. Tommy Edman moves up to the No. 2 spot and slides into center field, followed by shortstop Mookie Betts. First baseman Freddie Freeman moves to the cleanup spot, followed by left fielder Teoscar Hernandez.

Miguel Rojas enters the lineup as the second baseman and will. bat sixth, with Alex Call also re-entering the order to take over Kyle Tucker’s right field. Kiké Hernandez is also included as the third baseman, batting eighth. Finally, Ben Rortvedt is taking Hunter Feduccia’s spot behind the plate at the bottom of the lineup.

Who is Pitching for the Braves?

The Dodgers have a tall task in front of them, as Cy Young winner Chris Sale takes the mound for the series finale. Sale has been one of the best pitchers in the National League this season, and would be the frontrunner for the NL Cy Young if not for Jacob Misiorowski.

On the year, Sale’s ERA is 2.20 and he has 166 strikeouts in 135 innings—outperforming his Cy Young campaign two seasons ago.

The Dodgers faced Sale earlier in the season, managing to win the game after scoring three runs in seven innings, and will look for a similar result in Thursday’s game, which begins at 4:15 p.m. PT.

  1. Dodgers lineup won’t scare anybody any more. They are aging and it shows and new guys provide little pop

  2. I think the Dodgers must lead all of baseball in leaving runners on base, especially in scoring position with less than 2 outs and not scoring.
I think the whole team needs to have hours and hours of learning how to bunt and not leaving so many runs not converted.
Also stop leading all of baseball in hitting into double plays!!!
