MLB Insider Proposes ‘Ridiculous’ 3-Team Trade to Fill Dodgers’ Outfield Need

The Los Angeles Dodgers are in need of an outfielder heading into the 2026 season, as Michael Conforto is now a free agent.

Conforto had a rough 2025 season to say the least, posting career lows across the board after the Dodgers signed him to a one-year contract. Now, with the former All-Star gone, the Dodgers need to find a serviceable player to put in left.

MLB.com’s Anthony Castrovince proposed a “ridiculous” three-team trade for the Dodgers, which would see them bring another one-time All-Star to LA. The Dodgers would acquire outfielder Jarren Duran from the Boston Red Sox, who would receive All-Star starting pitcher Joe Ryan from the Minnesota Twins. For their trouble, the Twins would get Dodgers No. 2 prospects Zhyir Hope, No. 6 prospect Jackson Ferris, No. 18 prospect Chase Harlan and Red Sox No. 11 prospect Marcus Phillips.

After winning the 2024 All-Star Game MVP in 2024, Duran’s numbers slightly regressed in 2025. That being said, he still had a solid year in the outfield and played a huge role in the Red Sox making the postseason in 2025.

Duran led the American League in triples for the second year running while slashing .256/.332/.442, and recorded 16 home runs and 84 RBIs throughout the season. While a solid player all around, the Red Sox have unbelievable depth in the outfield with Wilyer Abreu, Roman Anthony and Cedanne Rafaela also commanding playing time.

With their overabundance of outfielders, the Red Sox could move on from Duran, the oldest, who seems to be the odd one out. Duran is still under club control through 2028, so the Dodgers would get plenty of time out of the All-Star.

What they’re giving up, though, is rather steep for the Red Sox’s fourth choice outfielder. The Dodgers have plenty of time to survey the free agency market, and should do so before making a hasty decision on Duran should they pursue him. If their options run out, though, he is a more than capable player who would fit nicely in the lineup.

  1. All trades suggested by MLB.com are ridiculous. Further a site that is supposed to be the official site of MLB shouldn’t be suggesting trades, they are supposed to be on baseball’s side and not supporting any one team.
