MLB News: The Angels Are Now Taking Offers on Shohei Ohtani
The MLB trade deadline is now just a few days away, and teams are scrambling. There are plenty of names available out there, but the possible Juan Soto trade seems to be slowing the market, even if just slightly. But it makes plenty of sense why teams looking for a bat would wait to see what happens with him.
But there could be another big name available all of a sudden. The Angels had previously said that they were not thinking about trading Shohei Ohtani or fielding offers for him. It’s safe to assume that MLB teams assumed that meant there was no chance for him.
But their tune might have changed this week. The latest report from Jon Heyman is that the Angels are suddenly not hanging up on phone calls about an Ohtani trade. So if every team in MLB wasn’t already interested, they have to be now.
“The Angels, perhaps for the first time, are listening to trade offers for Shohei Ohtani. Teams have been calling regarding potential deals for the two-way phenom, and while a trade involving the unique superstar is seen as very unlikely, the Angels are not hanging up the phone.”
One MLB executive suggested that the Angels would want any team’s top 4 prospects in an Ohtani deal. But with just one more year of team control for Ohtani and the Angels tanking again, there is reason to believe they would at least consider the move.

But the talent level that Ohtani brings is nearly unmatched in MLB. He can post an OPS up over .900 and can throw a fastball in the triple digits, posting a 2.81 ERA this year. A team that lands him would be incredibly lucky to have him, but will he get traded? Drop into the comments and let us know where you think he ends up.

Now THAT is the perfect deadline trade for the Ds. That would be worth it.
Hard pass. He will want a billion dollar contract when he is a free agent.
Hard pass.
I don’t know, guys. He’s a top of the rotation starter who would only improve once the Dodgers staff got ahold of him, and he IS the best DH in MLB. SO, what would it take? What are JT and Muncy’s combined salaries?!?!
