MLB News: Yankees Outfielder, Potential Dodgers Target, Accepts Qualifying Offer

New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham is accepting the qualifying offer, per multiple reports.

Grisham, who was linked to the Los Angeles Dodgers to fill their outfield need, will be staying with the Yankees on the one-year, $22.025 million deal.

Grisham was one of four players to accept the qualifying offer, joining Shota Imanaga (Chicago Cubs), Gleyber Torres (Detroit Tigers) and Brandon Woodruff (Milwaukee Brewers). The other nine players rejected the offers.

Grisham is coming off a career year with the Yankees, hitting .235 while setting career-highs in home runs (34), runs batted in (74), hits (116), OPS (.811) and OPS+ (125).

After his career year, there was a chance that Grisham tested the open market, and could have filled a major hole for the Dodgers who need a centerfielder.

However, Grisham has instead elected to take the sure thing, re-upping with the Yankees on the over $22 million deal for next season.

With Grisham off the board, the Dodgers will continue to focus on either Kyle Tucker or Cody Bellinger on the free agent market to fill their outfield need.

As for the Yankees, they reportedly still want to bring back Bellinger, per Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
