Brett Anderson Starts With Dodgers Seeking First Win In San Francisco

The Los Angeles Dodgers offense failed to show up Tuesday night in the series opener against the San Francisco Giants. As a result, the Dodgers came away with 2-0 loss despite another solid outing from Carlos Frias.

It leaves the Dodgers still trying to beat the Giants on the road for the first time this season. Next up for them is Brett Anderson, who is winless against San Francisco in five career starts, going 0-3 with a 6.10 ERA.

As a Dodger, he’s had two opportunities this season. He faced the Giants once on the road and once at home. In his start at AT&T Park, Anderson went four innings while giving up nine hits (several infield hits) and allowing four runs.

Despite the struggles, Anderson is coming off one of his best starts of the year after striking out a season-high eight batters against the Colorado Rockies. Two runs were scored on him in 5.1 innings as he ended up with a no-decision.

Opposing Anderson is Tim Lincecum, who faces the Dodgers for the third time this season. He also started against Anderson in his prior outings two while coming away with the win in their first meeting and a loss the second time around.

The Dodgers are no strangers to Lincecum after seeing him 28 times before Wednesday’s game. Although Lincecum boasts a career winning record against the Dodgers at 10-8, he’s been far from non-hittable recently. Dating back to the beginning of last season, Lincecum has given up 17 earned runs in 22.1 innings when facing the Dodgers.

The Dodgers are hopeful they can get runs on Lincecum after being held off the board Tuesday. Juan Uribe has hit well against his former teammate with a .303/.378/.576 slash line in 37 plate appearances. He gets a rare start at third base Wednesday.
