Randy Arozarena Posts Picture With Shohei Ohtani Fueling Dodgers, Rays Trade Speculation

Randy Arozarena posted a picture of him alongside new Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani late Tuesday night. That’s normal, right?

Arozarena took to Instagram to post the famous photo of him and Ohtani at the World Baseball Classic. His caption was a simple two emojis of Japan’s flag and Mexico’s flag.

This comes amid speculation that the Dodgers and Rays could be involved in a trade surrounding RHP Tyler Glasnow. I’m someone that’s said for weeks that no trade should happen with the Rays unless it involves Arozarena, too.

The Dodgers’ No. 1 need is starting pitching (obviously), but their biggest need right after is a right-handed outfield bat. And their biggest need right after that is a player who performs well in the postseason.

Check, and check.

Arozarena has a career 1.104 postseason OPS, and has been one of the better postseason players since bursting onto the scene in 2020.

In the regular season, Arozarena isn’t too shabby either. He has three straight seasons with 20 or more home runs, and has quickly become one of the most electriying players in baseball on both sides of the field.

Obviously, this post is just pure speculation — and we acknowledge that. But it doesn’t change the fact that the Dodgers need to trade for Arozarena this offseason, and a trade for Glasnow wouldn’t hurt, either.

Shohei Ohtani’s contract allows the Dodgers to go all-in this offseason. A trade for Arozarena and Glasnow would be doing just that.

  1. Margot shouldnt even be discussed. Dodgers can pick up a defensive outfielder anywhere. Probably already have one on the roster.

Arozarena fills the LF void. This guy can play. I really dont want Glasnow as he is injury prone, BUT if we get Arozarena with him Ill take it.
Trade Busch, DeLuca, Pepiot, Stone for them.

  2. If it’s Margot over Arozarena, I don’t even want Glasnow. Glasnow is just a bonus for me. Arozarena is a MUST for the Dodgers. Yes, the starting pitching fell apart this year but people seem to casually forget how god awful the Dodger offense has been in October since 2020. Couldn’t hit Wainwright in the WC Game in 2021. Barely could hit against the Giants and outside of that Chris Taylor explosion in Game 5 vs the Braves they haven’t hit a lick once the lights get the brightest. What was it…0-30 at one point with RISP vs the Padres last year? And this year 6 runs total in 3 games.

I get why everybody is obsessing over the pitching but I truly don’t think that’s the main issue. The Dodgers gave up 4 runs in Games 2 and 3 this year, they should be able to win those games with the offense they had. Arozarena is the most clutch player I’ve ever seen. He does it in October and he did it in the WBC. He’s a must for the Dodgers and it’s a huge mistake if they don’t go get him.

Oh and if the Dodgers decide to run out platoons and continue playing matchups in October in 2024 it just shows they don’t and won’t ever get it. What works for them in the regular season does not work in October. I hope they’ve finally figured that out.
