Recapping Shohei Ohtani’s 2024 Season With Dodgers That Ended in World Series
Los Angeles Dodgers superstar two-way player Shohei Ohtani had a dream 2024 season.
Ohtani had a season that only some ball players could only dream of. Ohtani invented the 50 home run/50 stolen base club, recorded a career-high in home runs, runs batted in, doubles, hits, and runs, and is the leader of the Dodgers franchise record in single-season home runs, to name a few.
Ohtani couldn’t do any wrong this season, and he is a big part of why the Dodgers are the final team standing. The 30-year-old from Japan officially signed with Los Angeles on Dec. 11, 2023, to a record-setting 10-year, $700 million contract with the Dodgers, the largest contract in professional sports history. Although the Dodgers now had the best ball player in the league, he wasn’t able to pitch due to an elbow injury and consequent surgery in Sept. 2023.
Ohtani spent the entire year as the Dodgers designated hitter and made the most of his opportunity. Prior to being a Dodger, he had never experienced success in his major league career. The Angles never sniffed the postseason, although they had Ohtani and Mike Trout on the same team.
His first year with the Dodgers was a storybook, and we have nine more years of this dominance.
This could be the beginning of something special for Ohtani and the Dodgers. Next year will be the first time we see Ohtani on the mound donning Dodger blue.
