Former Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Matt Sauer has gone overseas and joined a Korea Baseball Organization team.

Sauer signed with the KT Wiz of the KBO, the team announced Thursday. The Dodgers released the 26-year-old Tuesday, a day after the team celebrated back-to-back World Series championships.

The right-hander made 10 Major League appearances for the Dodgers in 2025. He made the team’s Opening Day roster, but did not play in either of the Dodgers’ two games against the Chicago Cubs at the Tokyo Dome.

Sauer returned to Triple-A following the team’s trip overseas, but was called up early in the season because of the myriad injuries to the pitching staff.

Sauer sported a 6.37 ERA in the big leagues this season with 24 strikeouts and a 1.449 WHIP. He made one start for the Dodgers and recorded one save in 2025. At Triple-A Oklahoma City, Sauer made 18 appearances (17 starts), producing a 5.86 ERA across 83 innings.

Sauer was drafted by the New York Yankees in the second round of the 2017 MLB Draft. The right-hander was then selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 2023 Rule 5 draft.

Instead of signing a minor league deal with another organization in the offseason, Sauer will return overseas to play for the KT Wiz. The right-hander will earn $900,000 next season, including a $200,000 signing bonus.

As the Dodgers look ahead to 2026, the front office has already had a busy offseason.
