Shohei Ohtani Reacts to Dodgers’ New Celebration Making Fun of Him
The Los Angeles Dodgers are known for their wacky celebrations after an extra-base hit, but this season’s antics are at the expense of Shohei Ohtani.
It all appears to be completely lighthearted, especially given the fact that Ohtani himself is a participant, but the origins of the celebration are from one of Ohtani’s many outside brand affiliations.

A commercial that ran for Decorte facial moisturizer features Ohtani affectionately moving the bottle across his face, followed by a wink.
After various Dodgers have homered or hit an extra base hit, they can be seen pretending to move a bottle of their own across their faces as they celebrate.
Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy spoke on how the trend started, and how there is no ill intent behind it.
“That’s usually how those types of celebrations start. It’s just a little moment that everyone had a laugh at and you just kind of make fun it… and you just roll with it.”
Earlier this month, Ohtani smashed a walk-off home run on his own bobblehead night to not only help his team improve to 8-0, but to show the world the new celebration.
While trotting around the bases, Ohtani could be seen pantomiming his move from the Decorte commercial as veteran Miguel Rojas excitedly sprayed water on him.
“I think it’s good for them to tease me and get excited,” Ohtani said earlier this week. “I think the atmosphere is good.”
The atmosphere is indeed good as the Dodgers sit at 10-4 on the season and are standing with the San Diego Padres as the only teams in the league to hit double-digit wins.
After snapping a three-game losing skid Wednesday against the Washington Nationals, the Dodgers will look to continue their winning ways against the Chicago Cubs Friday evening at Dodger Stadium.
