Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani is one of the more private marquee players in the world, keeping the media and public out of his personal life.
However, after he missed the series opener against the Baltimore Orioles due to the impending birth of his child, Ohtani shared good news about his baby.
He announced that his second child arrived safely. Now, his family has grown to five, including his dog and friend, Decoy.
His first child was born back in April 2025, with Ohtani and his wife, Mamiko, welcoming a girl.

On Saturday morning, the pair released a statement.
“We are again overjoyed to experience this wonderful day in our lives together,” Shohei and Mamiko wrote on Instagram.
“Thank you for being born safely. We would also like to express our gratitude to everyone who has supported us throughout this journey.”
How has Shohei Ohtani adapted to life as a dad?
Ohtani, known for sleeping at least 10 hours a day to aid his recovery, noted that his routine began to change the moment his first child was born.
“A little change in the routine in terms of, for example today I went to the hospital and came straight to the field,” Ohtani said.
“Just being here at home is nice to be able to spend time, but on the road, it’s going to be a little bit of a challenge since I won’t be here.
“But I’m just grateful for the safe delivery. I’m glad that even though I couldn’t sleep as much as I wanted to, it’s a good kind of not-getting-enough-sleep situation.”

With another child here, Ohtani should be expected to get less sleep again for a long time. However, he will return to the baseball field at some point this weekend.
His job will keep him quite busy for the next handful of months, but after October, he should be all-in on daddy duty.
