Teoscar Hernandez Carries Dodgers Offense Again in Win Over Reds

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Cincinnati Reds, 3-2, with another electric night from Teoscar Hernandez and some veteran hitters.

The Dodgers got a 3-for-3 night from Teoscar Hernandez, driving in a run and scoring himself as well.

One of those hits was a triple that was almost an inside-the-park home run, since he was sent by the third base coach, but Elly De La Cruz hit a 100+ MPH throw home that got Hernandez easily at the plate.

LA went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight runners on base, but thanks to Hernandez, a home run from Will Smith, and a run from Mookie Betts from one of these two walks, the Dodgers did just enough.

Dodgers pitching wins the day again

The Dodgers, through starter Tarik Skubal, got a quality start. Skubal went 7.1 innings, allowing two runs, two free passes, and notching five strikeouts.

All of his runs came on a throw-run mega-blast from Elly De La Cruz, who continues to torment the Dodgers.

Other than that, Skubal cruised for the most part. He did not get much in terms of whiffs and strikeout counts, but he still got five punchouts.

Seemingly, he is either getting some favorable contact or getting whiffs from his stuff, but he is not able to do both on a regular basis in Dodger Blue.

Still, it put the team in a position to win, which the starting pitching staff tends to do.

Skubal touched the eighth inning for the first time as a Dodger, getting the first out of the inning before Dave Roberts pulled him.

Right after that, Edgardo Henriquez came in for two outs, though he allowed a double to De La Cruz that was for nothing.

Henriquez ended things with a punchout, and Tanner Scott got a four-batter save in the ninth, striking out two and allowing a walk that stole second base, but got stranded.

The Dodgers put on a pitching clinic, leaving LA within one game of a sweep.
