The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Washington Nationals, 6-4, in a tightly contested game.
The Dodgers put up two runs in the first inning, coming on two different RBI singles, one from Teoscar Hernandez and Hunter Feduccia.
Tommy Edman saves the Dodgers again
From then on, the offense would really struggle until the seventh inning, when Tommy Edman hit the go-ahead home run to give LA a 5-4 lead.
Edman has been hitting leadoff over the last three games without Shohei Ohtani, and he has overall impressed with timely hitting.
Mookie Betts had another multi-hit game, and his newfound swing is delivering a big boost for a lacking offense on the whole.
Once again, the offense didn’t create many chances, but when they had opportunities, they delivered. The Dodgers went 3-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
For a team missing Max Muncy and Dalton Rushing due to late scratches, it was a good performance, all things considered.
A pitching WAR
Pitching-wise, it was rough for Tyler Glasnow, who pitched six innings and allowed four runs. He had eight strikeouts, but six hits and three walks as well.
He threw only 56 strikes out of his 96 pitches, struggling with command badly early on, but he settled in well.
Glasnow finished with just 12 whiffs on 36 swings, though 20 called strikes helped him out tremendously. Only 42% of pitches were in the zone on the night, and with little chase, just 23%; it was tough to get in favorable counts.
In the end, it was a good step forward for someone making his third start after months without pitching.
After him, Alex Vessia took the bat, striking out two hitters and allowing one hit, while Evan Phillips put up a clean inning, and Tanner Scott got the save despite allowing a run in the ninth inning and almost blowing it.
Scott got two strikeouts to start, but then he allowed a single, another single that scored a run, and then a double to put runners on second and third.
After five pitches, he got the strikeout and secured a third straight win for LA.
The Dodgers will aim to secure the series sweep on Sunday.
