Umpire Costs Dodgers Run in Unbelievable Play During Game 4 vs Padres

With two outs in the top of the fourth inning, the Los Angeles Dodgers were robbed of a run.

Already leading 5-0 with Shohei Ohtani on second base, Teoscar Hernández turned on an inside pitch sending it down the third base line. The baseball ricocheted off San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado’s glove and then bounced off the third base umpire’s outstretched arm.



Machado was able to fight his way around the umpire, scooped up the ball, turned and fired home where Kyle Higashioka tagged Ohtani out to end the inning. Here’s a video of the play:
