Yankees Dominate Dodgers in Game 4 to Stave Off Elimination in World Series
The New York Yankees dominated the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4 of the 2024 World Series, winning 11-4 and staving off elimination.
In a bullpen game where the Dodgers relied on their lower-leverage arms, the Yankees offense woke up, scoring 11 runs, including five in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The Dodgers offense got going early with a two-run first inning home run by Freddie Freeman, which made history as he became the first player in MLB history to have a home run in six consecutive World Series games.
However, the lead didn’t last long, as the Yankees added one against Ben Casparius in the bottom of the second inning, before blowing it open in the bottom of the third inning with an Anthony Volpe grand slam against Daniel Hudson.
The Dodgers offense then chipped away with two more runs in the top of the fifth inning. However, the Yankees added one in the bottom of the sixth against Landon Knack, and then five runs in a breakout inning in the bottom of the eighth against Brent Honeywell.
The Dodgers offense struggled with runners in scoring position, going 1-for-7 and leaving four runners on base. They were also shut down by the Yankees bullpen, who threw five shutout innings.
