SportsNet LA Reveals Dodgers’ 2024 Broadcast Schedule, Talent Lineup

SportsNet LA announced its talent lineup and Dodgers broadcast schedule for the 2024 season.

The Dodgers’ regional sports network announced it will air 25 Spring Training and more than 140 regular season games this year. The first: Thursday’s Cactus League opener against the San Diego Padres.

As previously announced, SportsNet LA’s spring training coverage will also include exhibition games in South Korea on Saturday, March 16 at 8 p.m. PT and Monday, March 18 at 3 a.m. PT.

The network will also televise the three “Freeway Series” games against the Los Angeles Angels from March 24-26.

SportsNet LA will return its entire talent lineup from 2023. Joe Davis and Orel Hershiser return as the Dodgers’ primary play-by-play broadcaster and game analyst, respectively. Stephen Nelson, who called more than 50 games last season, returns for his second year as Davis’ primary backup.

When Hershiser is not in the analyst’s chair, those duties will rotate among Jessica Mendoza, Eric Karros, Nomar Garciaparra and Dontrelle Willis.

Kirsten Watson will serve as field reporter while also contributing to the network’s studio programming. Dodgers Cactus League games on SportsNet LA will be called by Tim Neverett and analyst Rick Monday.

The season premiere of Backstage:Dodgers will be a special one-hour episode on March 28. According to Tuesday’s announcement, the episode will feature “Dodgers’ offseason activities, including the acquisitions of Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow, and the Dodgers’ trip to South Korea to open the 2024 regular season.”

  1. i was hoping they’d announce a streaming deal similar to the lakers for the cable cutters like me.

    1. I was hoping for the same thing. Especially needs to happen before my mlb.tv subscription renews next week so I can compare pricing.

  2. I was hoping they would rid themselves of Mendoza and her incessant giggling and laughing at things not the least bit funny.

    1. I think Jessica Mendoza is awesome. Very knowledgable about the game. And she and Joe have good chemistry in the booth. Try to appreciate that if you can.

    2. I can’t stand her either. In fact, when she is in the booth I listen to the other team’s broadcasters. She is way too technical for me.

  3. There are obvious reasons why Jessica Mendoza will be in the broadcasting booth — the least of which is her broadcasting ability. Jessica has never had an original thought about the game. Every comment she makes is scripted. I would like to see more women involved in baseball broadcasting, and there are many who could offer an insight or opinion that would enhance the broadcast. Unfortunately, Jessica is not one of them. As much as I don’t like to turn off the sound, I would rather listen to me rather than Jessica Mendoza. That’s pretty sad because I’m just not that interesting either.

    1. I agree. I’d rather turn off the volume and just watch the game with no sound than listen to Jessica. Her laugh after each statement is so annoying. I watch every Dodger game and I can’t stand it when she’s on.

      1. I also turn off the volume or listen to the other team’s broadcasters. Sad, but way better than listening to her.

  4. Mendoza is below average. I’m a woman who supports women but she’s not right for this job. She’s not interesting. I know she has knowledge of the game but she never played baseball only softball, two different games. Steven Nelson is just as bad. I’m bored by him even game he announces. Joe and Orel are the best. Bring back Rick and Charlie.

  5. Just call it what it is… They are a “WOKE” organization.. They HAVE to check all the boxes. Has nothing to do with talent. We all know this.

  6. Very well stated, Neil !!!!!! Don’t the Dodgers realize that they are not helping “women’s causes” by using an inferior broadcaster? Mendoza is hurting those causes. There are many women who could contribute to the Dodger broadcast. Unfortunately, Mendoza is not among them.
