Yankees’ Juan Soto Exits With Injury Right Before Series Against Dodgers

New York Yankees superstar outfielder Juan Soto has exited the team’s game early on Thursday with an injury. Soto was replaced by former Dodgers outfielder Alex Verdugo in the lineup.

The injury comes just one day before the Yankees will face the Dodgers for a three-game series in New York.

Soto started the game, as he has all season, in right field, but when the game resumed after a 56-minute rain delay, Verdugo entered the game for him. Aaron Judge got his first career start in left field at Yankee Stadium, and Trent Grisham started the game in center field. Judge moved back to right field with the substitution.

The Yankees said Soto is dealing with left forearm discomfort.

Soto has been playing this season at an MVP-like caliber since he was acquired from the San Diego Padres this offseason. The early exit is something to monitor as the Yankees wait to see how significant the injury is.

Before exiting the game, Soto was 0-for-1 with two walks and a run scored.

Soto entered the contest as one of the early American League MVP favorites, slashing .319/.422/.605 with 17 homers and 53 RBIs for the AL East-leading Yankees.
