After Winning World Series, Dodgers Have Best Prospect in MLB, and 6 in Top 100

The Los Angeles Dodgers have built an army of future superstars over the last few years.

The Dodgers’ farm system is loaded with young talent, consisting of six of MLB’s top 100 prospects, per MLB Pipeline’s latest rankings. Los Angeles has utilized all three areas of prospect acquisition – trades, the international market, and the draft – to assemble the next generation of Dodgers players.

Most recently, the Dodgers secured Japanese-born starting pitcher Roki Sasaki in the international free agent market. Ranked as MLB’s No. 1 prospect, Sasaki will make an immediate impact in the Dodgers’ rotation in 2025.

Along with Sasaki, the Dodgers added outfielder Josue De Paula from the international market in 2022. De Paula was born in Brooklyn, New York but moved to the Dominican Republic to play in the Dominican Summer League on a $397,500 contract.

De Paula, who will turn 20 in May, hit a career-high 10 home runs and 62 RBIs in 2024. The No. 40 overall MLB prospect also led Class A in on-base percentage last season.

While De Paula is not expected to make his MLB debut until 2026, catcher and outfielder Dalton Rushing and shortstop Alex Freeland are predicted to debut in 2025 alongside Sasaki. The Dodgers brought in both Rushing and Freeland in the 2022 MLB draft.

The Dodgers named Rushing the organization’s Minor League Player of the Year in 2024. The No. 30 MLB prospect slashed .273/.396/.511 and logged nine home runs across 37 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Freeland, MLB’s No. 72 prospect, has a reputation for smart swinging decisions at the plate. Last season, Freeland’s 91 walks ranked sixth in the minor leagues.

The Dodgers acquired starting pitcher Jackson Ferris and center fielder Zyhir Hope in a trade deal with the Chicago Cubs last offseason. Los Angeles traded infielder Michael Busch and right-handed pitcher Yency Almonte in the deal.

Ferris is expected to make his MLB debut in 2026, while Hope is predicted to be in the Major Leagues by 2027.

The Dodgers selected Ferris, who turned 21 on Jan. 15, as their Minor League Pitcher of the Year. The No. 71 MLB prospect threw 145 strikeouts across 126.2 innings, which ranked third among minor league pitchers age 20 or younger.

Hope slashed .290/.419/.484 and hit nine home runs and 41 RBIs in 2024. The No. 75 MLB prospect played in the 2024 Fall Star game, which highlights the Arizona Fall League’s rising stars.

The Dodgers invited all six prospects as non-roster players to spring training in February.
