Alex Verdugo Joins Dodgers in Philadelphia

Well, it looks like yet another roster move is on it’s way. Though it can’t be officially confirmed yet, it appears as if Alex Verdugo will be joining the Dodgers in Philly, per his Instagram.

Verdugo, 22, is having an incredible season in the minors. Through 67 games, the left-hand hitting outfielder is hitting .349. He also has added eight home runs and 37 RBI. He saw some big-league action earlier in the season, being with the Dodgers for nine games. In his time here, Verdugo had a slash line of .265/.306/.382.

Analysis

As mentioned, it hasn’t been confirmed yet. One can guess, he’ll be replacing Justin Turner on the roster. Turner left yesterday’s game with right-groin tightness, and it was reported a DL stint might be likely. With Turner out, this will likely slide Chris Taylor and Kike Hernandez into the third base role while we wait for his return. This can open up an outfield spot for Verdugo to see some playing time.
