Country Star Brad Paisley Gives Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani Huge Compliment

Country music artist Brad Paisley had high praise for Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani, naming him as the greatest baseball player of all time.

Paisley, a Dodgers fan, has been around the Dodgers plenty over the last several years, often singing the national anthem at Dodger Stadium during the World Series. Paisley notably sang the national anthem at the Dodgers’ 18-inning World Series win against the Boston Red Sox in 2018 as well as their 18-inning win against the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 3 of 2025’s World Series.

The artist joined MLB Network Host Ron Darling on MLB Tonight and spoke about Ohtani’s miraculous Game 4 performance against the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS.

“I do too,” Paisley said after Darling said he thinks Ohtani is the best player of all time. “I think, none of us were around to see Babe Ruth do what he did, but it wasn’t this. There’s no way it was this.”

Their praises are completely valid, especially after Ohtani’s showing against the Brewers. In Game 4 of the NLCS, Ohtani went 3-for-3 with three solo home runs, and also struck out 10 batters in six scoreless innings on the mound.

Outside of this single game, though, Ohtani has put together a strong case to be considered the greatest player in MLB history.

Ohtani has already won four MVP awards, as well as three in a row as of 2025. This moves him into second place all-time in terms of winning the award, only behind Barry Bonds. After leading the National League in just about every offensive category in 2024, Ohtani put together another monstrous season in 2025.

He hit a career-high 55 homers in the regular season, and drove in 102 RBIs. The two-way star kept his OPS above 1.000 for the third consecutive season, and led MLB in runs for the second year in a row.

Ohtani also made his return to the mound in 2025 after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2023, and posted a 2.87 ERA through 47 innings pitched.

The Japanese star is still just 31 years old and is only getting better, and if continues to produce at the rate he has for the past several seasons, he could very well go down as the best player the sport has ever seen.
