“Certainly it was a very scary moment,” Roberts said. “From what I’ve gathered he’s gonna be under concussion protocol. I don’t know what that means as far as going forward. Certainly it’s somewhat of a setback. I don’t know how long this protocol lasts.

“It was good to see him walk off the field. I don’t think we’re getting any X-rays right now. When I was on the mound, he didn’t express any pain. I think he’s going to kind of regroup, lay low.”

Miller had only recorded 12 pitches in the third inning of the matchup with the Chicago Cubs before making an untimely exit due to the scary injury. The good news was the right-hander was able to get up on his own power and walk off the field.

Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy spoke on the scary incident with Miller on the mound. Muncy said the right-hander appeared to be okay after being hit by a 105.5 mph line drive. Miller even made a joke when the trainer asked him if he knew where he was, according to Muncy.

The 25-year-old is one of three starting pitchers competing for the final spot in the Dodgers’ rotation. As of now, the confirmed L.A. starters include Yoshinobu Yamamato, Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, and Roki Sasaki.

Miller spoke to Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain earlier this week about his goals for 2025.

“I’m feeling better than I have in any other spring training,” Miller said to McKain at Camelback Ranch. “This, so far, has been my best spring and best offseason of any offseason I’ve had in pro ball so far.”

“I got confidence in myself that I can be a part of that rotation the whole year,” Miller added. “There’s gonna be competition or whatever. But I’m always rooting for everybody in this locker room, no matter what.

“Just got to do what I’m supposed to do, keep working hard, and as long as I can look myself in the mirror and say I did everything I was supposed to do and more, I can’t be mad at myself.”
