Dodgers: Alex Vesia Cranks Up the Velo with YouTube Star

Despite the MLB lockout now officially spilling into spring training, players are still ramping up for the 2022 season as best as they can on their own. In terms of Dodgers players, we’ve seen several glimpses of work in the cage, on the field, and off the mound shared across social media this winter. Perhaps most frequently, we’ve laid eyes on LA reliever Alex Vesia.

The 25-year-old has been spotted throwing to local high school kids and mixing in all of his pitches over the last month or two. Now, in a recent video posted by YouTube star and former pro baseball player, Eric Sim, we see Vesia getting nasty off the bump.

The Dodger pitcher says he’s ready for the season and has the body feeling good for another lockdown campaign in LA.

In the video, Alex shares differences in his in-season and offseason throwing program while explaining key points he’s looking for in his warm ups.

Vesia made 41 appearances in relief last season, putting together a 3-1 record with a 2.25 ERA over 40 innings pitched. The reliever is once again expected to be a key weapon out of the bullpen for Dave Roberts this season. Vesia along with a determined Victor Gonzalez and a healthy Caleb Ferguson, who is returning from Tommy John surgery, will give the Dodgers an enviable amount of potentially light’s out left-handers in 2022. Garrett Cleavinger and Justin Bruihl also figure to get in the mix.
