Dodgers’ Brusdar Graterol Provides Major Injury Update Heading Into New Season
It’s hard to imagine the Los Angeles Dodgers offseason getting any better, but there has been another upgrade to their pitching room.
It didn’t come in the form of a monumental signing or trade, but rather, a positive injury update from an integral part of both the 2020 and 2024 World Series bullpens: Brusdar Graterol.
An injury-filled 2024 limited the reliever to only appearing in seven regular season games. However, Graterol was still able to pitch in three World Series games.
A November surgery put Graterol in a similar position for 2025 as he made a goal of when he wants to be back.
“The playoffs – just like last year,” he said.
Graterol also spoke on his recovery process as he will be battling back from injury for another season. Despite a lengthy rehab effort, the 26-year-old is relieved to have the timeline he does.
“Thank God, it was not the rotator cuff,” Graterol said.
A rotator cuff would have been far more severe, but his surgery dealt with just the labrum and a ligament in the shoulder. Despite being a month away from starting the throwing portion of his rehab, Graterol feels like he has “a new arm” after the November procedure.
On the way to the 2024 World Series, the Dodgers were no strangers to pitchers going down with injuries. The return of Graterol didn’t just provide a talented arm only allowing two hits in six September appearances, but a spark of energy for a team heading to the final games of a long season.
As 2025 is shaping up, the pitching roster looks as talented as ever.
With a starting rotation that should leave batters scratching their heads, the signings of two closers that combined for 55 saves last season, and the existing rostered talent to bridge the gap between them, Graterol seems to be leaving this ball club in a better place than the season prior.
The right-hander will be welcomed back with open arms when he is healthy, but the talent on the team since he last threw for the Dodgers has extensively improved.
