Dodgers-Cardinals NLCS Stats: What To Keep In Mind Before Game 5
Down 3-1 in the NLCS, the Dodgers find themselves with their backs against the wall.
The good news is that the Dodgers will have their three best pitchers ready to go as Zack Greinke will pitch in Game 5, Clayton Kershaw is set for Game 6 and Hyun-Jin Ryu will be ready if the Dodgers can force a Game 7.
Greinke threw eight innings and allowed two runs in Game 1, a game the Dodgers lost in 13 innings. Kershaw threw six innings while allowing just an unearned run in his start in Game 2, a game the Dodgers lost 1-0. Ryu threw seven shutout innings in Game 3 to help the Dodgers earn their only victory of the series.
They will face Joe Kelly, Michael Wacha and Adam Wainwright if they force more games. The Dodgers scored twice off Kelly, were shutout by Wacha and defeated Wainwright with two runs.
Dodger pitching has held the Cardinals to a .148 batting average in the series and have scored eight runs, while the Dodger offense has hit .223 with seven runs in the series.
The Dodgers are looking to make a comeback in the series like the one they did during the season. The Dodgers started 30-42, before catching fire and ending the season at 92-70 and winning the NL West. The team won the division by the widest margin in baseball and eliminated the 96-win Atlanta Braves in the NLDS.
