Dodgers Could Trade Andy Pages, Miguel Vargas, James Outman at Deadline

With the trade deadline less than one week away, trade decisions have to start being finalized.

A prominent issue for the Dodgers this season has been their starting rotation. Many of Los Angeles’ key starting pitchers have gone down with injuries throughout the season. Clayton Kershaw, Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Walker Buehler have been on the injured list. Kershaw and Glasnow are returning this week, reviving a rotation relying on just four pitchers.

The Dodgers are going to need more pitching ammunition if they want to be a World Series championship contender. In an interview with Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain, MLB insider Jon Morosi gave insight into the Dodgers’ trade deadline needs.

“It’s clearly their biggest need,” Morosi said on starting pitching, “and not their only need because I think that adding in maybe one more arm to the bullpen will be a priority. I also think about maybe adding some depth to the lineup, especially if the Dodgers have to trade out some younger Major League position players.”

Morosi had suggestions for potential trade targets for the Dodgers to seek. Detroit Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal and Chicago White Sox ace Garrett Crochet were two top options. Morosi proposed three outfielders that Los Angeles may reluctantly decide to exchange.

“And I’m sure they don’t want to, but we should mention the possibility that someone like [Andy] Pages, or [Miguel] Vargas, or [James] Outman could be part of the package that would bring back some pitching,” Morosi said to McKain.

The Dodgers will have to decide the fate of this trio by Tuesday.

  1. Go ahead and trade Vargas and Outman. Vargas has no clue about what he is doing in the outfield and looks like he is wearing roller skates many times. There are very few infielders who can make the transition. We all remember the Gavin Lux experience in left field. If they would put Vargas at third base he might succeed there. Outman just needs more discipline at the plate and appears to have quit listening to Dodger coaches. He has the ability, maybe someone else can get it out of him. Do not trade Pages, he has the skill and the talent to succeed in the outfield, Plus he has some power for two bagger’s and homers. And he’s learning what his strike zone is and and has cut down his wild swings at anything close. I’d hate to lose any of them but if they can bring the Dodgers the pitcher(s) they need, then they have to go…

    1. Trade young Major League ready players and keep Lux & Taylor around … Crazy! 1st DFA Biggio … Simply name recognition; Trade CT3 off your roster by packaging him #9 prospect … Play Vargas at his natural position 3b

  2. LMFAO!!!!????
And pray tell us what you think other MLB teams would be willing to send the Dodgers in return for that vast treasure trove of esteemed baseball expertise?

  3. Seriously? We just DFA’ed a starter with an 8-2 record and, in addition to the two starters returning this week, we have potentially 4-5 starters who should come back later this year. Most teams would love to have this situation and, by playoff time, we will have what is necessary – really only need three for the playoffs. Plus we have 3 young pitchers who are darn good. No need to trade for a starter in my view.

  4. I actually think that Taylor and Lux times in the blue should come to an end. We have spent too much time and energy on Lux. He is streaky at best and has not lived up to the investment .

  5. Seriously???

Two starters coming off IR this week; 4-5 more coming off IR later this year; just DFA’ed an 8-2 starter; several young starters looking good. We do not need more starters.

  6. Some people aren’t very bright when it comes
To trading players. Biggio, outman, Ahmed and
Vargas should be traded.Give them a chance
some where else where they can get more playing time. Ct3,lux will be worth more come playoffs along with like. Think people!!!
