Dodgers Fans Share Their Thoughts on Who Should Replace Tony Gonsolin to Start the Season

The Los Angeles Dodgers and their fans received some bad news this week. They learned RHP Tony Gonsolin will miss the start of the 2023 season due to an ankle injury he suffered last week on a drill.

That leaves an open spot on the rotation, and there are plenty of ways the Boys in Blue can go. We wanted to see what our followers would say, so we asked on our Twitter page, “Who do you think should get the Dodgers’ No. 5 starter spot with Tony Gonsolin out to start the season?” We put Michael Grove, Ryan Pepiot, and Andre Jackson as options, and this is how it went.

An overwhelming 70% of fans think Pepiot should be the pitcher to replace Gonsolin in the rotation, followed by Grove at 17.5% and Jackson at 12.5%. We received over 700 voters; however, others decided to take their thoughts in the comment section, and here’s what they had to say.

I would also love to see Gavin Stone or Bobby Miller in there, but it’s not quite their time yet. Pepiot is the most proven of the bunch, as he pitched nine games in 2022 and looked spectacular at times. Repetition is key to anything in life; I think Pepiot deserves a shot, and now is as good a time as any to put him in the rotation.

We’ll see what the LA coaching staff decides, but who would you want to see fill Gonsolin’s spot to start the season? Let us hear it in the comments below, Dodger fans.
