Dodgers: Giants Manager Responds to Dave Roberts’ World Series Goal
Teams always have the goal of improving off of their last season. Well, that can’t necessarily be said of all teams. Even if they say that is their goal, there are very clearly teams throughout the league that have no interest in trying to win ballgames this year. Luckily, the Dodgers are not one of those teams.
After a National League Championship Series exit in 2021, the Dodgers are looking to get back a title this year. Dave Roberts appeared on the Dan Patrick Show last week and guaranteed a World Series title for Los Angeles this season.
That drew a few minor reactions from players around the league, but nothing too crazy. But when Giants manager Gabe Kapler was asked about the Dodgers manager’s bold claim, Kap didn’t even seem to argue.
“If you ask me what the goal of the San Francisco Giants is right now, it’s to improve our processes and practices and trust that that is going to lead to the best possible outcome in 2022. Whether that means going deeper into the postseason, which is one of our goals always.”
Initially, it almost sounded like Kapler was trying to say that he wasn’t going to make any sort of claim similar to Doc. He went on to clarify that their goal is to win the World Series, but making improvements to their 107-win season is important for that. The Dodgers won 106 games last year and fell a game short.
“It’s not that we don’t want to win the World Series. It’s not that we don’t want to win the National League West, it’s not that we don’t want to win 108 games, making that an improvement on last year. It’s that we have small steps to take that are way more important and are going to require a lot of attention and energy.”

As things stand right now, there is a good shot the Dodgers and Giants are going head-to-head in the National League West once again. The Padres should be right there along with both teams, but ultimately it should come down to those two. What better way to play a season?

Dodgers Rotation Barely Cracks the Top 10 in Major League Baseball
No. The giants will not contend for a division title. Last year’s Giants divisoon title was the equivalent of winning the lottery. There shouldn’t have won it; they shouldn’t have even contended and they darn sure shouldn’t have won 107games. Never happen again and no amount of awoke and mirrors will have them repeating that feat.
