Dodgers Give Retiring Miguel Cabrera a Very Hollywood Gift

Though many traditions surround the game of baseball, one of the best ones has to be the retirement tours for players saying goodbye to the game filled with warmth and plenty of gift giving.

Continuing this great trend was the Dodgers as baseball legend Miguel Cabrera and the Tigers came to town on Monday night with a very fitting gift awaiting the 40-year-old slugger in his final few weeks as a player.

A star on the diamond, Los Angeles rightfully bestowed one of baseball’s best to ever do it one of his own like you’d see on the Walk of Fame down Hollywood Blvd.

Winning consecutive MVP awards in 2012 and 2013, the latter of which being baseball’s first batting triple crown in decades, Cabrera has just about seen it all in his time with the Marlins and the Tigers.

Earning a championship with Florida in their 2003 season, a 2008 trade sent Cabrera to Detroit where he would continue his great career.

After hitting .313 with 138 home runs and an OPS of .929 in Florida, from 2008-2019, Cabrera did even better with a .319 average and 339 more home runs to boot.

The 12-time All-Star has also reached the 500 home run benchmark and will retire with an average over .300, a testament to his discipline and pure bat to ball skills.

Injury plagued for the past few seasons, Cabrera hasn’t exactly had a fairy tale send off, but it’s still a nice sign to see him off on his own terms.

An All-Star in 2022, Cabrera’s contributions to the game will be remembered for generations as he is a surefire Hall of Famer when he’s eligible for Cooperstown in just a few years.
