Dodgers Have Made Tons of Insane History After Improbable Undefeated Start to 2025 Season

The Los Angeles Dodgers are off to the best start in Major League Baseball history for a defending World Series champion.

Following their improbable, come-from-behind 6-5 walk-off win over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night, the Dodgers moved to 8-0 on the year, surpassing the 1933 New York Yankees who went 7-0 to kick off their title defense season.

The Dodgers and San Diego Padres are the lone unbeaten teams remaining in the league. It’s the fifth time in MLB history where multiple teams started 7-0 or better, and the first since 2003.

In addition to the league-wide history, the 8-0 start is the third-best start in Dodgers franchise history, and their best since moving to Los Angeles.

The then-Brooklyn Dodgers started 9-0 in 1940, and 10-0 in 1955.

Finally, the Dodgers have won from come-from-behind fashion in an incredible six of the eight games.

While no win has been improbable as Wednesday night’s walk-off after trailing 5-0, L.A. is the first team in MLB history to start a season 8-0 despite being down in at least six of those games.

The most recent win was a shock to everyone, including manager Dave Roberts

“Tonight I was a little dumbfounded,” Roberts said Wednesday night. “I was dumbfounded with the way we were playing. I didn’t recognize that club in the first couple innings. And then just dumbfounded we found a way to win that game. We had no business winning that game. But to our guys’ credit, we just kept fighting.”

The Dodgers have proven to be relentless, and at this point, there’s no telling how long they’ll be able to keep their undefeated season alive.
