Dodgers: Keibert Ruiz Will Make His Cactus League Debut Today
It’s been a long and tiresome offseason for Dodgers catching prospect Keibert Ruiz. The young backstop was caught up in his home country trying to work out a visa issue for the last few weeks. That caused him to miss his pitchers and catchers report day by almost a month.
But the Dodgers recently appointed number 1 prospect is back in camp and ready to go. A recent update on Keibert revealed that he was in camp and was already catching bullpens. Dave Roberts expressed the desire to get him into games by the end of this week.
Doc stuck to that statement and said today that Keibert would be making his Cactus League debut. Ruiz will come in to catch for the Dodgers after Austin Barnes exits the game. Barnes is starting behind the plate and batting sixth.

Ruiz has long been expected to be the guy behind the plate for the Dodgers in the future. But that has become less of a certainly over the last 2 years as he dealt with injuries and issues with his bat.
Keibert is also partially blocked by Will Smith, and his bat is enough to keep him behind the plate for a long time. While his immediate future with the Dodgers is uncertain, his talent cannot be ignored. Having him in Cactus League will be very exciting to watch.
