Dodgers Minor League Pitching Shows Out with Pitcher of the Month Awards Sweep

Bobby Miller may be proving himself in the Major Leagues right now, but the Dodgers organization is showing that they still have plenty of pitching talent left in the minors as three prospects picked up monthly awards at each minor league level.

Matt Andriese, Emmett Sheehan and Jared Karros all picked up the May Pitcher of the Month award for their respective leagues. This is the first time this season that anyone in the Dodgers organization has won the award at any level.

In Triple-A, Andriese won the award in the Pacific Coast League with the Oklahoma City Dodgers. In the month of May, he pitched 20.1 innings and had a 1.77 ERA and a 13/4 K/BB ratio.

Andriese is looking to make it back into the Majors after playing for the Angels and Red Sox last season. The 33-year old is currently on a minor league contract with the Dodgers that will expire at the end of the season.

Andriese will look to bring the momentum he created for himself in May into June and continue his journey back to the Majors.

In Double-A Tulsa, Sheehan won the honor in the Texas League. In May, Sheehan pitched 24.2 innings and posted an incredible 0.36 ERA and a 41/10 K/BB ratio. On the season, the Dodgers No. 7 ranked pitching prospect has an ERA of 1.64.

In his last start on June 3, Sheehan threw 5.1 IP, allowing 3 H, 1 ER and 1 BB.

Finally, at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, Jared Karros won the award for the California league. The son of former Dodger, Eric Karros, pitched 19.1 innings and sported a 1.40 ERA and 25/4 K/BB ratio throughout the month of May.

The Dodgers should be fine with pitching depth in the future as the organization has plenty of talented pitchers throughout the minors.
