Player of the Day – Julio Urias
Don’t look now, but Julio Urias is starting to get comfortable in the California League. The 17-year-old lefty picked up his first win of the season on Wednesday, giving up just one hit over five innings while walking none and striking out five. In his last five games, Urias allowed just five runs in 20 innings, issuing just three walks and striking out 21.
He’s doing also doing an excellent job of keeping the ball on the ground and only allowed one home run. Despite the success, there’s no need to rush Urias, who won’t turn 18 until August.
