Dodgers News And Rumors: Giants Hold Threshold As Top Rival
[new_royalslider id=”314″]
By completing their fourth sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks this season on Sunday, the Los Angeles Dodgers won the season series, 15-4.
The two teams have had their fair share of scuffles and arguments over the past few seasons and another chapter was added Sunday when Andre Ethier was hit by a pitch. Warnings were issued to both benches, and manager Don Mattingly and Clayton Kershaw were ejected from the game for arguing.
A few of the players commented on the situation and stated they don’t view it with the same magnitude as they do with the San Francisco Giants. Zack Greinke said he would have felt much better if the team’s 15-4 record was against the Giants instead. Outfielder Andre Ethier agreed with Greinke and stated they although the Dodgers and Diamondbacks do have their moments, it will never compare to the rivalry with the Giants.
The Dodgers face the Giants six times in the month of September as the division race and regular season are winding down. After Monday’s win in the series opener against the San Diego Padres, the Dodgers have a 3.5 game lead in the NL West.
