Dodgers News: Andrew Friedman Maintains High Expectations Heading Into 2024 Season

The Dodgers suffered a very disappointing end to their 2023 season last week when they were swept in the NLDS by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The team struggled both on offense and with their starting pitching, and going into next season, the front office now knows what it needs to do to be successful again in 2024.

President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman is aware of what needs to be done to make the Dodgers go deep in the playoffs and is ready to make moves this season.

Friedman is setting high standards for the 2024 LA Dodgers.

“I do feel very confident that when we show up in Arizona, in February, we’re going to have a team that has very, very legit championship aspirations,” Friedman said. “Then it’s about going out and taking care of that first part of the goal of the regular season, and then doing whatever we can to make sure we’re not sitting here in this exact setting a year from now.”

This is the second consecutive year that the Dodgers have suffered an early exit in the playoffs by way of a divisional opponent.

In 2022, the Dodgers were eliminated in four games against the San Diego Padres.

Over the last two years the Dodgers have recorded over 200 regular season wins, yet have only one playoff win to show for it.

The offense has been to blame for the past playoff exits.

Both this year and last, the team struggled to hit with runners in scoring position and earn runs in other ways than the long ball.

That will be one of Friedman’s biggest focuses heading into this offseason.

The starting pitching was also a concern as they were only able to give the team a combined 4.2 innings in the three games in the NLDS. Friedman already made it clear he’s going to address that issue this offseason.

No matter who stays or comes to the Dodgers this offseason, Friedman is going to make sure that the team is championship caliber once again.
