Dodgers News: Bobby Miller Reveals Weight Loss From the Offseason

Dodgers top pitching prospect Bobby Miller is on track to make his MLB debut this season. The hard-throwing righty has continued to improve his game, and would love to make an impact in the big leagues this year.

Dodgers Nation’s own Doug McKain caught up with Miller on Wednesday at Camelback Ranch, and asked him about his spring training, his offseason work and what his pitch mix is going to look like this year. You can watch the full video here:

Here’s what Miller said about the grind that is spring training.

“It’s hard work,” Miller said. “We get here every day bright and early, no days off. We’re for sure putting in the work — I believe this is the hardest working team out there. So, it’s an expectation, you got to put in the work and hopefully everything turns out well.”

Miller also spoke about his offseason, and said that he lost some weight coming into the new year, but was able to maintain his strength. He feels really good about where his conditioning is at.

“I’ve seen the most gains in my conditioning so far. I really upped that this year, lost some weight coming into this year — that was kind of planned — so making sure I’m losing while maintaining that strength, which I have. I feel like I’m moving quicker, my body is moving better and I’m maintaining the same strength, too.”

Finally, McKain asked Miller about his pitch mix, and if he’s planning on adding anything new this year.

“No, same mix as last year,” Miller said. “I’ve got my mix down. I’m not messing with any new pitches or anything. It’s four-seam, occasional two-seam, curveball, slider changeup.”

The pitch mix has seemed to work for him so far, so there’s no reason to mess with it. It makes a lot more sense for Miller to keep perfecting what he has going for him, which is pretty electric stuff when he’s at his best. The 23-year-old is definitely going to start the year in the minors, but if he continues to progress, he might find himself in the majors sooner rather than later.
